after years of jokes about Taylor "Babyshooter" Herbert, Wildbow has finally made her complete opposite in Mia "Is anyone gonna raise that kid? too late it's mine" Claw

I'm so mixed on Carson right now. He's likable, but he's also a slick bastard.
Plus, I love the fact that Bolden and the rest of the crew being so competent also reflects on Mia's intelligence on bringing them along, at least for now.
AND that makes Carson worming his way into her life even scarier.

Claw's pulling a sharp reverse on the established pattern, apparently. Holy fuck, Mia!
...Are there any Wildbow serials where "yeet the baby" isn't applicable wisdom?

Claw 2.4:
“On the top two floors, they’re the kind of people who have their computers set up with homemade thermite charges. If something goes awry, they melt the hard drives. Fourth floor, they film.” “Kids?” he asked. “No. Not usually. Not like you’re thinking. Killings on camera. They found each other, they live together upstairs. Lower floors are mostly empty, but there are some.”
Interesting, how this serial killer couple is the looming backdrop of the scene where Mia and Carson themselves "find each other". A tiny comparison, a contribution to Claw's exploration of interpersonal and family relationships among violent criminals? Maybe relevant, too, that Mia's wrath/scorn and Carson's violence are not directed towards the serial killer couple, but the couple feeding their kids to them. Child abuse crosses a personal line for our protagonists, to whom other violence is a fact of life. It also takes most of the narrative's moral and emotional weight; I know I was more chilled by "sending them upstairs" than by the existence of "upstairs" itself.

It's hilarious. I'm out here imagining what's the Contact like? How's that first confrontation going to go? Is he the Big Bad? Just for him to be offscreened.
You'd think I'd be used to it by now.
It is kinda funny that Mia spends 6 chapters thinking about the Contact, all mysterious like, only for it to turn out that she knew his real identity this whole time.

It really does feel like the various PoV switches in Claw are Bow forcing himself to work on his pacing. Every chapter hits, and with the Arc-long PoVs, he seems to have a solid idea in mind of what he wants each character to be doing for an arc.
On top of that, the character work continues to be excellent, and the particular double life balance makes for some incredible juxtapositions, as the story explores parenting in, ah, all its forms.
Now let's see where Valentina takes us.

A group of right-wingers get into selling bootleg estrogen initially just to make a quick buck but end up deradicalised into antifa trans allies is an amazing backstory

And there is the detail that his gang expanded rapidly. My bet is that the Kitchen is basically an arm of the corrupt military conspiracy Nathaniel was ranting about.
Also, the Civil Warriors are, in part, a false flag.
What???
What the fuck???
9/11 happened and then just kept on happening.
Then there's the 'Mandate' whatever the fuck that is. Maybe something like the draft, but with some definitions changed around so it isn't technically a draft?
And then unrest really kicks in, to the point that the military is actually deployed, and that could be for any number of real-life reasons that were exacerbated or fictional ones as the result of... all this.
And thanks to ramped up paranoia, the government made russian nesting dolls of secret agencies.
And as a result of all of this plus whatever else, there's the 'Civil Warriors.'
Jesus fuck. Silly us, thinking that no powers or magic meant that wildbow wouldn't find a way to write a world whose nature can inspire existential dread.

Oho, I'm liking chapter 2 of Claw. We're definitely not doing sweet teenage girls trying to improve society somewhat. We're doing naked Mum casually dismembering a guy she just watched die.

I swear Wildbow is doing something special, having previously stalwart allies walk away from what would normally be our protagonist if the story was just her POV.
Like the last couple of arcs, Highland and Bolden were ride or die for Mia. Now, people that Mia could've easily recruited are refusing to work with her.
And we don't get to see the interior feelings of Mia or her actual closest ally.
Plus, the scary beat of Mia enabling Valentina's revenge boner?
Chills. Chef kiss.

Where's that meme where Spike from Cowboy Bebop says he loves a woman that can literally murder him? I want to talk about Carson from Claw.

Incredible how in just four chapters Claw has presented both the best and worst parents in a Wildbow serial.
